Community Education

The struggle for freedom and dignity is not limited to the courtroom and other halls of power. Most of it takes place in neighborhoods, classrooms, community centers, streets, and public forums. Throughout my legal career I have engaged in popular education and civic engagement. Our communities and movements are stronger when we understand our grassroots histories, the legal system, and how the two interrelate.

I am available to speak with your high school, college, or law school classes; student groups; community and activist organizations; independent media projects; and elsewhere. Topics include:

  • Know Your Rights Trainings
  • Criminal Law, Criminal Defense, and Indigent Defense
  • Criminal Justice Reform and Mass Incarceration
  • The Criminalization of Dissent, the War on Terror, and Political Repression
  • Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
  • Social Movements in the United States
  • Federal Grand Jury Investigations
  • Critical Legal Theory
